Natural Epicurean was excited to offer the 2016 Transform Food and Yoga Scholarship contest this Spring for one qualified applicant to attend the Summer 2016 track. We received an outpouring of applicants from around the world, all demonstrating an appreciation of the power of food and yoga.
We would like to commend all of the applicants on their commitment and accomplishments, and for making the Scholarship Committee’s decision difficult.
After pouring over applications, resumes, reference letters and essays one applicant stood out. Her passion, education, and commitment to help others through her love of food and yoga were obvious by her extensive background in both fields, as well as her glowing references that emoted her ability to transform those around her.
It was for these reasons that we proudly selected Ashley Walker Workman, as the 2016 Food and Yoga Scholarship recipient.
In her essay Ashley included a quote.
“Healthy plants and trees yield abundant flowers and fruits. Similarly, from a healthy
person, smiles and happiness shine forth like the rays of the sun.”
~ B.K. S Iyengar
Not only was this a beautiful quote to support her essay, but we believe it perfectly describes Ashley. Her warmth, dedication and positivity could be felt beaming from her application.
Although Ashley possessed a strong resume, it was also clear to the Committee that this applicant did not only have experience and interest in food and yoga, but also built a lifestyle centered around both. She embodied food and yoga as a unified lifestyle and uses these as her vehicles to create positive change in the world. We could not have been more moved by her ambition and application of these aspirations, and knew that Ashley was the best representative of what defines the Transform Food and Yoga Scholarship.
Congratulations, Ashley! Welcome to Austin and the Natural Epicurean and Yoga Yoga family.
